News is information about current events, delivered through a variety of communication media, including word of mouth, printing, postal systems, broadcasting, and electronic communications. News can also be presented through a variety of models, such as the Mirror Model, which states that news should reflect reality; the Professional Model, which focuses on skilled peoples putting events together for a particular audience; and the Political Model, which outlines how various pressures shape the content of a newspaper.
While Americans primarily get their news from traditional outlets, many are also turning to online news aggregators. More than one-in-three say they very often consume national news from these sources. This includes a large share of those who use the Fox News Channel, MSNBC, or CNN. In addition, many Americans are tuning into the international news channels RT and Al Jazeera America.
A large majority of Republicans — 54% — say they have used Fox News in the past month. On the other hand, only about a quarter of Democrats say they have used these outlets.
